Public Programs and Certification
Our Intern Program is your chance to join Microsoft in a full-time position, with a real job and challenging tasks from day one. This isn’t your average tea-making, hand-holding internship.
We’ll put you on real projects from the start, developing your natural talents and providing you with insights that will change the way you look at everything, from smartphones to search engines and beyond.
Microsoft provides two internship opportunities for different students: Commercial Intern and Engineering Intern.
Lean Six Sigma Certifications

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Program level – Foundation
The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt drives process improvement initiatives to develop robust systems for the business and deliver consistent output to customers. Green Belt training equips individuals with a logical and objective way to identify, measure, and eliminate problems / issues with process within an organization.





Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
Program level – Intermediate
The Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt has a thorough understanding of all aspects of the DMAIC model in accordance with Six Sigma principles. A Black Belt demonstrates team leadership, understand team dynamics, and assign team member roles and responsibilities. They have are able to identify non value-added elements and activities, and are able to use advanced analytical tools.





Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt
Program level – Advanced
The Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt is an affirmation of the ability to lead the enterprise level deployment of Lean Six Sigma to advance the organization objectives. Master Black Belts are qualified to lead and educate all levels of an organization in Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies. They provide guidance to leaders, aligning Lean Six Sigma projects with an organization’s business plan to further drive continuous improvement.





Lean Practitioner
Program level – Foundation
A Certified Lean Practitioner plans, delivers and facilitates simple and effective approach to identifying and removing waste in processes thereby increasing the speed, efficiency and effectiveness of an organization’s operations. Lean Practitioner is the foundation of the Lean Expert certification





Lean Expert
Program level – Advanced
Lean Expert Certification provides participants with an in-depth understanding of Lean techniques and how to reduce operating time and costs while retaining product quality. A Lean Expert focuses on specific aspects of the Lean tools, techniques, and concepts within the complete Lean curriculum. Through the introduction of a continuous improvement process in the company, the processes are sustainably improved and maintained at top levels.





Lean Six Sigma Coach
Program level – Advanced
We’re looking for a creative storyteller to join this team, engaging all Microsoft employees in Ireland. You will work alongside your team to create internal communication campaigns that inform and educate employees about our culture, ambitions and strategic priorities.

Business Excellence Certifications





Business Analytics Foundation
Program level – Foundation
Software engineers (SWEs) work with teammates to solve problems and build innovative software solutions. You are passionate about customers and product quality, and you provide technical guidance to Program Managers as they consider user needs and product requirements.

Business Analytics Practitioner
Program level – Intermediate
We’re looking for a creative storyteller to join this team, engaging all Microsoft employees in Ireland. You will work alongside your team to create internal communication campaigns that inform and educate employees about our culture, ambitions and strategic priorities.

Business Analytics Expert
Program level – Advanced
In joining this team, you’ll be engaging with students and educators at all levels on the island of Ireland on the mission to promote STEM at primary and secondary levels, and to establish Microsoft Azure as the cloud platform of choice for 3rd level students and lecturers.

Risk Management
Program level – Intermediate
Risk Management workshop is designed to deliver a deep, practical understanding of operational risk management frameworks and measurement methodologies. It is a solution to operations management’s increasing growth, complexity, and diversity. This practical workshop explores the best practice in operational risk management, at all stages: from assessment to implementation. The participants will gain tools to manage risk and to create environment where this function is perceived as a value added proposition increasing profitability and structural strength of an organization.





I – Lead Digital Transformation
Program level – Intermediate

Robotic Process Automation
Program level – Intermediate
We’re looking for a creative storyteller to join this team, engaging all Microsoft employees in Ireland. You will work alongside your team to create internal communication campaigns that inform and educate employees about our culture, ambitions and strategic priorities.

Commercial Intern Program
Our widely varied, 12-month program has roles available across all areas of the business. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to develop your current skills while also exploring other areas through side projects.
We’ll help you make the most of your talents with training that looks something like this: 70% learning on the job, 20% learning from your manager, peers and mentor, 10% learning through structured courses and role-specific training.
Some of the highlights of your training will include your induction, manager one-to-ones, mentoring and intern community events organised through our Intern Program.
To be eligible, you must be returning to full-time education for a minimum of one semester.
The Engineering Internship
As an Engineering Intern, you’ll join a 12-week summer program with flexible start dates. You will enjoy great benefits, perks and relocation allowance – all accompanied by an extremely competitive salary.
You’ll be assigned a mentor and get the chance to work on real projects. Our active intern community also means you’ll get to take part in events organised throughout the summer.
To be eligible, you must be returning to full-time education for a minimum of one semester.

What roles are you recruiting for?
We are hiring interns across all of our business areas.
How long are internships for?
Our Commercial Intern Program runs for 12 months and our Engineering Intern Program runs for 12 weeks.
When do applications open/close?
Applications for our Commercial Intern Program and Engineering Intern Program open in August 2019 and close June 2020.
Who is eligible to apply?
Our Commercial Intern Program is open to Undergraduate and Masters students in their penultimate year. Our Engineering Intern Program is open to students returning to full-time education for at least one semester.
When will I hear back from Microsoft?
